About Us
From $30M in Retail to B2B Excellence.
For over a decade, we sold polo shirts directly to consumers. Customers found us through word-of-mouth, came back season after season, and slowly built our retail business to $30M at its peak. We weren't the cheapest. We weren't the loudest. We just made a polo that lasted.
Then in 2024, our founder, who'd spent years before Fortera as a Project Manager at a large enterprise, made a decision that surprised the team. He wanted to walk away from B2C. The reason was personal. In his old corporate job, he'd been the one signing off on uniform orders for the team. Every year, the same routine: pick a vendor, approve a sample that looked great, then receive 200 polos that felt nothing like the sample. Pilling after a month. Embroidery that puckered the moment a logo got complex. A collar that curled the second week. He kept the worst one in his desk drawer as a reminder that "premium corporate polo" was, for most companies, a quiet lie.
When he founded Fortera, the obsession started early. Our first signature polo, the one that built the retail brand, took 14 months and 23 prototype rounds before it shipped. The collar alone went through 9 versions. We threw out an entire fabric run because, after 40 industrial washes in our QC lab, the navy faded a half-shade lighter than the swatch. Our cutting team still calls it "the navy disaster." We reordered the fabric and ate the cost. That standard never moved. It's the same standard every bulk polo passes through today.
In 2024, we pivoted Fortera from selling polos to individuals to outfitting teams. Headquartered in San Jose, California, with our production facility in Houston, Texas, we run two specialized operations so each garment is made where it's made best. "Our Houston facility (10835 S Wilcrest Dr A, Houston, TX 77099) handles every sublimation print order in-house, with final QC and shipping for all polos. Our Vietnam facility, the same one that built our $30M retail business, handles all polo construction and embroidery. Our Vietnam facility, the same one that built our $30M retail business, handles all polo construction, where 12 years of pattern refinement and stitch precision live in the hands of the team that perfected them. Final QC and shipping run from our Houston facility. Same standards. Same hands. Now with your logo on the chest and a 21-day timeline that doesn't slip.
Same polo. New customer. The one we built it for in the first place.
The industry was getting bulk orders wrong.
After years of selling retail, we kept hearing the same frustrations from corporate buyers. We pivoted to B2B to solve them.
Inconsistent Quality
Most suppliers produce retail samples to win the deal, then downgrade materials for bulk. We use the same retail-grade fabric for every order, regardless of volume.
Hidden Markups
Middlemen, agencies, and resellers inflate prices 3-5x. As a direct manufacturer, we cut the markup and pass savings straight to you.
Slow, Opaque Process
Waiting weeks for quotes, emails with no reply, no production visibility. We give you instant pricing, real-time tracking, and a named account manager.
Logo Disasters
Pixelated embroidery, wrong colors, misaligned placement. We digitize your logo for free and send a sew-out proof before a single shirt is cut.
