Personalized Softball Jerseys: A Design Guide for Slowpitch and Rec Teams

Buyer's Guide • Softball Jerseys • 10 min read

One team look on the front, a different name and number on every back.

The best personalized softball jerseys keep it simple: a team name that reads from the outfield, a clear name and number on every back, and sponsors placed where they do not crowd either. We sublimate yours edge to edge on a full button jersey with contrast piping, in Pique Mesh 180 GSM, sizes 2XS to 4XL, from a single piece at $35.95. The same jersey works for baseball.

Most rec teams order by group chat: colours picked late at night, sizes collected by text, and a sponsor logo the size of a stamp. A little planning fixes that, for softball jerseys whether you play Tuesday night slowpitch, company softball or weekend tournaments.

Below: design, names and numbers, button jersey versus tee, sizing, fabric, cost and timing. Everything here is available in our custom softball jerseys collection.

What Goes Into Personalized Softball Jerseys?

A team design printed across the whole jersey, plus each player's own name and number. With sublimation, the team name, numbers, names and sponsor logos are all one print, so personalising every jersey costs nothing extra.

The team look is shared, the back of each jersey is not. On our Custom Softball Jersey, the design covers the front panels, back and sleeves, and every jersey in the order is printed individually from your roster.

That matters in slowpitch softball, where rosters change every season. With no screens to set up, a late signing's jersey is one more print at list price. Most leagues want at least a back number, so check your rules before you lock the design.

How to Design a Softball Jersey Your Team Will Wear

Pick two or three colours with strong contrast, put the team name across the chest, and check the design at phone-screen size. If it still reads when it is small, it will read from the bleachers.

Strong contrast beats clever combinations: navy with gold, black with red, white with royal blue. Grey numbers on light blue disappear at fifty feet. Lighter bases feel cooler in a midday doubleheader; darker ones hide infield dirt.

The classic softball jerseys design is a script team name across the chest with a tail underneath, the look of a baseball uniform. Block letters read faster. Keep names to about twelve characters so they do not shrink.

Pinstripes, gradients, camo or a photo cost the same as a flat colour, which is why sublimation suits custom design softball jerseys. You do not need an online softball jersey maker to design your own: send a logo, sketch or reference picture. We prepare the file free and show it on a digital mockup before anything prints.

Names, Numbers and Sponsor Logos: Where Each One Goes

Team name on the chest, the player's last name above a large back number, and sponsors on the sleeve or lower back. Every element prints as part of the design at no extra cost.

Element Usual spot Tip
Team name Across the chest The largest element on the front
Front number Lower left chest Optional, smaller than the back number
Player name Upper back, above the number Last name or nickname, spelled as on the roster
Back number Centre back Big enough to read from the scorer's table
Sponsor logo Sleeve or lower back Keep it clear of the number
League logo Opposite sleeve Ask your league if one is required

Send the roster as one spreadsheet: name exactly as it should print, number and size. It prevents most mistakes, like two players claiming number 7. Every name and number appears on your mockup before production.

Sponsors, often a local bar, a contractor or the employer, want to be seen. A sleeve logo shows in every batting stance; a lower-back logo shows in team photos. Ask for a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF); a high-resolution PNG also works.

Full Button Jersey or Crew Neck Tee?

The full button jersey looks like a real uniform and is what most teams want for games. A crew neck tee costs less, $28.95 against $35.95, and suits practice, fans or a team that has always played in shirts.

Button jersey Crew neck tee
Price per piece $35.95 $28.95
Style Full button front, contrast piping on placket and sleeves Crew neck, short sleeves
Fabric Pique Mesh 180 GSM 95% polyester, 5% spandex, 180 GSM
Sizes 2XS to 4XL XS to 6XL
Print area Front, back and sleeves Front, back and sleeves
Best for Game days, team photos Practice, warm-ups, fans

The button jersey is what people picture with custom slowpitch softball jerseys: open front, piping, the look of a proper team, and it unbuttons on a hot afternoon. The custom all over print t-shirt takes the same artwork, so some teams add personalized softball shirts for partners, kids and fans. Most softball shirt designs work on both.

For cool evening games, the custom all over print hoodie ($42.95, 250 GSM) carries the same design. Coaches who prefer a collar can wear the custom AOP polo, which comes in men's and women's fits. Printed team caps at $24.95 complete the softball apparel set.

Sizing a Co-ed Roster From 2XS to 4XL

The jersey comes in 2XS to 4XL in a unisex fit built on a men's cut. We do not offer a women's cut, so every player should choose from the size chart by chest measurement rather than by their usual size.

We would rather say this plainly. These are men's softball jerseys in their cut, a straight body rather than tapered. Women on co-ed and women's softball teams wear them, and 2XS and XS help smaller players, but if your team wants a fitted women's cut, this jersey is not it.

The size chart on the product page lists chest, length, shoulder and sleeve. Chest runs from 37 inches at 2XS to 49.6 inches at 4XL, measured all the way around. Each player lays a shirt they like flat, measures across the chest below the armholes, doubles it and compares. Between two sizes, the chart says size up for a relaxed fit.

Fabric: Pique Mesh 180 GSM and Why the Print Lasts

The jersey is Pique Mesh 180 GSM, a breathable textured polyester knit. The design is sublimated into the fibres, so names and numbers will not crack, peel or flake off.

The open knit lets air through on hot game days, at a weight that still feels like a jersey. Slides into second come with the game, and a print inside the fibre handles that better than a transfer on top.

Sublimated softball jerseys are made by printing onto transfer paper, then using heat to turn the ink into a gas that bonds with the polyester, with no stiff layer. Cotton cannot take sublimation. Our all over print sublimation guide explains the process in detail.

Care is simple: wash cold and inside out, skip fabric softener and hang to dry. Treated that way, numbers stay sharp season after season.

What Do Custom Softball Jerseys Cost?

$35.95 per jersey at list price, with names, numbers, sponsor logos and unlimited colours included. Orders over 20 pieces get a lower per-piece price, and there are no setup fees.

A 15-player rec roster comes to about $540, every name and number printed. No charge per colour, name or logo, and no screen or artwork fee. When you compare custom jerseys from other makers, check whether names, numbers and colours are priced separately.

The per-piece price drops on larger team orders, so a company with two teams, or a team adding coaches and partners, should ask for a quote first. Many captains order one jersey as a sample to check colour and fit in person.

Slowpitch, Fastpitch, Company Teams and Baseball

The same jersey suits slowpitch leagues, rec and church teams, company teams and baseball. Fastpitch teams can use it too, as long as players are happy with a unisex men's cut.

What is the difference between slowpitch and fastpitch softball jerseys? Mostly fit and culture. Slow pitch softball is the relaxed adult league game, often co-ed, where a roomy button jersey is normal. Fastpitch softball is more often played by competitive women's teams who prefer fitted cuts.

For company softball, the logo goes on the chest or sleeve and the team name can be a play on the business. These custom softball uniforms double as spirit wear; our guide to spirit wear and online team stores covers collecting orders.

Softball and baseball use the same button jersey style, so this doubles as a custom baseball jersey for a beer league team or fans on game day. For other sports, see our custom team sport apparel guide.

Personalized Softball Jersey FAQ

Quick answers to the questions captains and team managers ask us most before ordering.

$35.95 per jersey at list price, with names, numbers, sponsor logos and unlimited colours included. There are no setup fees, and orders over 20 pieces get a lower per-piece price.

Is there a minimum number of jerseys I have to order?

No. You can order from 1 piece, so a single sample, a full roster or one jersey for a mid-season signing all work.

Can I add names and numbers for my team?

Yes. Send one roster with names, numbers and sizes, and each jersey is printed individually. Every name and number is confirmed on your free mockup first.

What materials are the jerseys made of?

Pique Mesh 180 GSM, a breathable textured polyester knit. The design is sublimated into the fibres, so it will not crack, peel or flake off.

Can I change the collar or sleeve style?

The cut is fixed: a full button front with contrast piping and short sleeves. The colours, pattern, names, numbers and logos are fully custom.

Yes. Softball and baseball use the same button jersey style, so one design covers both diamonds.

How long does it take to receive a custom softball jersey order?

12 to 18 business days from mockup approval, shipped worldwide with tracking. Order at least five weeks before opening day, and for a hard deadline email support@forteraapparel.com first.
